Petals in the Light

Out on a Limb

Salvation, nailed to a cross,
hung in mid air
on the breath of life,
out on a limb.

Sacrifice, fastened with blood,
seeped into hardened cracks,
on the threshold of death,
out on a limb.

Passion, carved into a crown,
rose above the dogwood tree,
on the edge of eternity,
out on a limb.

Love, stronger than death,
embraced on a wooded bed,
cushioned our rescue,
out on a limb.

You bowed Your head
and shed Your blood
for us,

out on a limb.
