I'll Lay My Head

Don't leave me Lord; it's You I need,
when on this thorny road I bleed.
When I'm fatigued and need some rest,
I'll lay my head upon Your breast.

Please take my hand and don't let go,
lest I digress, consumed by woe.
When I withdraw and get depressed,
I'll lay my head upon Your breast.

And when I fall, please pick me up,
to give me drink from Your kind cup.
Thus when I'm weakened, when I'm stressed,
I'll lay my head upon Your breast.

How can I live if You're not here,
to comfort me and wipe a tear?
Lord, when You hear my poor request,
I'll lay my head upon Your breast.

Your arms around me hold me tight,
to help me through the darkest night,
and in the morning, now twice blest,
I'll lay my head upon Your breast.
